Guess who's back...back again?
Ugh, I suck.
But I have a really good reason for my absence, some of which I'll get into below.
But first...today's song of the day:
This song reminds me so much of my husband, for many reasons. Mostly for these lyrics: "They dedicate their lives, to running all of his. He tries to please them all, this bitter man he is. Throughout his life of sin, he's battled constantly. This fight he cannot win, a tired man they see." Ooh, the shade. That was early on in our relationship though. I feel that God has blessed (cursed?) him with a strong woman and now he only has to please me, ha! Not really thought. I make it my business to ensure that no one takes advantage of my husband, relatives be damned. Luckily, I don't need to be liked by everyone, so it's no skin off my back to make a few enemies here and there. We just have to be cordial to each other and it's all good.
None of this comes for any particular reason, things are pretty good right now. It's just what comes to mind whenever I hear this Metallica song.
Speaking of concerts, I've been to two in my absence from blogging. Coldplay was one. I went with my sister, it sucked because we got rained out and then had to walk an hour plus to get to the train to get home. That was definitely rough. Didn't really enjoy myself at that one.
The other one was Guns n' Roses, which I had a better time at (though I won't admit that to my husband). He was so excited to go and I was so happy for him when he was able to get tickets that weren't ridiculously expensive. And our seats were great too! He never dreamed he would be able to see one of his favorite bands in his lifetime, since Slash and Axl hated each other, but luckily they were able to put their differences aside (for money) and come together on this awesome tour. I never thought I'd get to hear November Rain and Sweet Child O' Mine in person, and it was great. I sang my little heart out.
So the reason I was gone for so long was mostly because I got sick as a dog. Oh man, it sucked. I was sick for like a week and a half with a cold and then when it was winding down, I got sick again! I went to the doctor and she pretty much said it seemed like I caught a cold back to back. I even ended up in the ER with a bout of vertigo due to the congestion. Fun, fun times! The effects of being sick lasted over a month. I was just in a foggy, medicated daze for that length of time. Lots of sleeping and drinking fluids. I did manage to get it together to go to a quinceaƱera, where I proceeded to sit under an AC vent which probably didn't help. It was a rough time.
I'm glad to report that I currently have no signs of a cold or flu, unfortunately, I'm still going to the doctor often, because I am being put on medication for my prior thyroid issues. Luckily, the pills are tiny, but still not fun to have to take medication on a daily basis. Oh well, it could be worse, I guess.
So that's been my summer so far. Sick in bed, couple of concerts here and there, and next thing I know, it was over. So sad.
Currently, my mom's sisters are here from out of town, so I expect to see all of them more often, and try to extend the summer a little bit further, before the bitter cold winter hits us.
I hope to update a lot more often now that I am getting back in the groove of things. I'm making no promises, however, since I suck so much.
