Notes for Peanut - 2 years, 5 months, 10 days

Hi Peanut!
I am documenting some notes that I can hopefully share one day with you, so you can get a glimpse into your child hood. My memory is atrocious, so I am using this method to keep track.
Today is August 20th at 9:53am. I am at work, with stacks of work piled around me, but I am doing this instead. Don't judge me. This place does not appreciate all the work your momma does and so she has to take breaks for her own mental health.
It takes your parents an hour + to commute here and 2 hours to return home. We do this because we moved before finding new jobs. For you, for grandma and grandpa, for the better, I hope.

Anyhoo...currently you are 2 years, 5 months and 10 days old. Man, I'm getting emotional just thinking of how big you are. But that's not what this post is about. Just wanted to track little notes, so that I can share with you later.

You are a cranky kid. Trantrums galore. You don't get your way or you're playing with something and it falls, or some other kid touches your toys, you lose it. I mean screaming at the top of your lungs, crying and running away as fast as you can. This is particularly fun when we're out in public.

Your favorite cartoons right now are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, some weird guy named Blippi, and you're starting to get into Peppa Pig. I'm glad you're over your Tom & Jerry phase. I love them, but the violence was not good.  That's probably why now you make the ninja noise "hee-ya" and try to kick us.

Anyway, your current favorite toy is this train table your dad built for you. He's such a carpenter. Not sure if it's still around by the time you read this, but you've liked trains for a while now and when we took you to ride Thomas the Train at the Illinois Railway Museum, you enjoyed the train tables more than riding Thomas himself. Actually, you hated riding Thomas, but anyway, I digress. After this, your dad set out to build you your own train table and you love playing on that thing. You enjoy playing with little cars, buses, etc. One of your favorites is an excavator and there's a song you always sing when playing with it. You also love a garbage truck you have. And of course, the train set. Whenever you walk into the house you say "trenecitos" and head right downstairs to play.

You love drinking licuados in the morning. With a straw, of course.

Your love for watermelon has dwindled a bit, but you're still a fan of strawberries and apples.

You hate regular water and love flavored, sparkling water Ice Mountain. So fancy. You also love swiping sips from our Coke or coffee cups. A caffeine lover, just like your momma.

We can't drive past a McDonald's without you asking for "papitas" and you pitch a fit if we don't stop. Sometimes you eat the chicken nuggets, sometimes you don't, but you love your fries.

Everytime you walk into your grandparent's house and see your grandpa, you immediately say "parque" and "carrito" which means you want him to take you to the park in your favorite little blue buggy that your other grandparents gifted you for Christmas one year. You can spend hours in the park with grandpa. He's your bff.

You have started to dance whenever you hear music, but one of your current favorites to dance to is "I Feel Good" by James Brown. Past favorites have been "Upudu" by Los Apson and "Be the One" by Dua Lipa.

You LOVE going to the Lansing library. Sometimes we get in the car and you say "libros", hoping we go. They have a cool play area for kids. Momma is a bookworm, so hopefully that stayed true for you too. Although currently, you only seem interested in the toys, not so much the books. But I'll keep trying.

You love watching videos of yourself on people's phones. The minute you hear your voice you run over to watch.

That's it for now. I'll try to keep updating as you keep growing.

Also, you are very, very loved.
